Freeman Brothers

Recorded at Owen Sound's Heartwood Hall, the Freeman Brothers, Curtis (bass) and Carson (sax) perform a full evening of music with bandmates Stephan Carriman (keys) and Gino Mirizio (drums).

Carson Freeman is the recipient of the 2010 Canadian Smooth Jazz Wind Instrumentalist of the Year award, and has performed alongside Grammy Winners;  Michael Bublé, M.C. Hammer, David Sanborn, Paul Brown, Larry Carlton, Randy Brecker, and Diana Krall.  

Carson has also performed with several notable musicians, including Max Weinberg, Dave Koz, Andy Kim, Corey Hart, Nikki Yanofsky, and Gino Vannelli.

Curtis Freeman is an 'in demand' bass player, studio bassist and music educator. Curtis has travelled and performed in over forty countries worldwide, working with several talented bands and musicians such as; Kim Mitchell, Rik Emmett (Triumph), Colin James, Treble Charger, Susan Aglukark, Tone Loc, singer-songwriters Amy Sky and Marc Jordan as well as Grammy winners Paul Brown (Luther Vandross), Liberty Silver, and Dan Hill.

In 2017, Curtis was hired as bassist for nine-time Grammy nominee, Hollywood 'walk of fame' recipient and smooth jazz saxophone sensation Dave Koz. He's been featured in two PBS Specials backing Canadian Guitar master Pavlo: 'Live from Kastoria' (Greece) and 'Pavlo Live from Guadalajara' (Mexico); and has toured with Pavlo across Canada opening for José Feliciano and The Tenors.

Owen Sound

The City of Owen Sound, on the southern shore of Georgian Bay, lies at the foot of the Bruce Peninsula and is famous for its exceptionally stunning geography.

Known as the Scenic City, Owen Sound features an expansive harbour and bay, winding rivers, parks and trails and a thriving, historic downtown.

Once named a Cultural Capital of Canada, Owen Sound is home to several festivals and events, including the Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival, the Salmon Spectacular fishing derby, the Concours d'Elegance and the Festival of Northern Lights.

You can also find tons of museums, galleries and halls including the Roxy Theatre, the Artists’s Co-op, and the Owen Sound Farmer’s Market, which remains open as an essential service through lockdown every Saturday from 8:00am - 12:30pm.

If you’re looking for local Covid safe outdoor activities, there is plenty to do here. Residents can hike along the Bruce trail, enjoy thousands of kilometres of snowmobile trails, cross-country skiing areas, and kid friendly outdoor displays downtown. You can even take self-guided interactive tour of Owen Sound on your phone!
